About the project

RURAAC project aims to promote the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in rural areas through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in outdoor activities.

The aim of the alternative communication approach is to offer a way of communicating, through the use of easy language and visual support, to those who are at increased risk of isolation and exclusion due to communication difficulties. AAC and its application in rural areas is the main focus of the RURAAC project.

Project partners

The project is implemented in 3 European countries by 4 partners, complementing each other's experience. We are proud to work with Trekkify /Italy/, Cooperativa Sociale GEA Onlus /Italy/ and Paint and Quarter Horse Foundation /Bulgaria/.
